A light-heavyweight title rematch between current champion Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson has been announced as the main event of UFC 210 in Buffalo, New York on April 8th.
The two stars first stepped into the Octagon together UFC 187 in May of 2015, with Cormier emerging victorious by way of a third round submission on that occasion to claim the vacant 205lb title.
‘DC’ would then go on to successfully defended his belt against Alexander Gustafsson in October of that year, and then defeated Anderson Silva by unanimous decision in a short-notice non-title bout at UFC 200.
Meanwhile, ‘Rumble’ has continued to display his remarkable punching power by knocking out Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira on his way to earning another shot at the title.
The rematch between them was originally supposed to take place at UFC 206 in December, but Cormier suffered an injury, and Johnson opted to sit out and wait for him to get healthy rather than take another fight in the meantime.
Cormier Vs Johnson II is the second big fight to be confirmed for UFC 210, with a middleweight encounter between former champion Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi also featuring on the main card, and while it’s been officially confirmed so far, that has a good chance of serving as the co-main event of the evening.
