A flyweight title fight between current champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson and John Moraga will headline The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale show on April 13th.
Johnson has already defeated three of the UFC’s top stars in the division, with Ian McCall (twice), Joseph Benavidez and John Dodson all losing out to him, leaving the promotion with a challenge on their hands to provide him with another suitable contender.
They believe they have found the right man for the job in Moraga who’s currently 2-0 in the UFC and is riding an overall seven fight winning streak over the past year and a half.
As solid as his record may be the downside is that Moraga is still a relative unknown to UFC fans, with his past two fights appearing on a prelim show airing on Fuel TV and a Facebook undercard, and that’s perhaps why this title fight is airing on a TUF finale rather than a more high profile event.
It does however mean that this looks like being a well-rounded Finale fight-card with a heavyweight fight between Travis Browne and Gabriel Gonzaga plus a female fight between Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano also slated to appear alongside the TUF series final.
