Demian Maia Vs Jorge Masvidal Now Confirmed For UFC 211

Demian Maia Vs Jorge Masvidal won’t be headlining the UFC Fight Night 108 event in Nashville as was originally rumored earlier this week, but it has now been made official for UFC 211 in Dallas, Texas on May 13th instead.

The Brazilian site Combate had been the first to report that the fight was in the works, but it seems they got their wires crossed when it came to the fight card that this major welterweight match-up would be featuring on.

This isn’t the fight the No.3 ranked Maia had been hoping for, as he’d been calling for a title shot in the division after a six-fight winning streak that’s seen him defeat the likes of Carlos Condit, Matt Brown, Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny.

Instead the BJJ ace finds himself in a potentially tricky match-up with Masvidal, who’s enjoying a three-fight winning streak in the division against Ross Pearson, Jake Ellenberger and Donald Cerrone.

Maia Vs Masvidal is a welcome addition to an already solid looking UFC 211 line-up that will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Junior dos Santos, while woman’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzeczyk defends her title against Jessica Andrade and Fabricio Werdum fights Ben Rothwell.
