Demian Maia Vs Jorge Masvidal Rumored For UFC Fight Night 108

Is UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on April 22nd about to get a new headliner?

That’s the word according to Brazilian site Combate, who claim that a fight between Demian Maia and Jorge Masvidal is now in the works for the main event of the evening.

The event’s current headliner, Cub Swanson Vs Artem Lobov had left most fans scratching their heads due to the fact that Lobov isn’t even ranked at featherweight and has a 13-12-1 (+1nc) record.

Maia Vs Masvidal would be a much more fitting fight to lead the show, with both men being major players in the UFC’s welterweight division at this moment in time.

Maia in particular is right on the verge of title contention after an impressive six-fight winning streak at 170lbs that’s seen him defeat the likes of Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, Matt Brown and Carlos Condit, leaving him placed at No.3 in the division.

Masvidal has also been doing big things in the welterweight division, racking up wins over Ross Pearson, Jake Ellenberger and most recently Donald Cerrone to take the No.6 spot on the rankings.

If Maia Vs Masvidal does end up headlining, and at this stage it should be stressed that it’s not been officially announced, then the UFC Fight Night 108 card will suddenly take on a whole new complexion, with Swanson Vs Lobov just being another part of a card that also includes the likes of Al Iaquinta Vs Diego Sanchez Ovince St-Preux Vs Marcos Rogerio de Lima, Thales Leites Vs Sam Alvey and Alexis Davis Vs Cindy Dandois.
