UFC fighter Diego Brandao was arrested by police on Thursday night in Albuquerque, New Mexico after brandishing a gun and becoming violent during a visit to a strip club.
The Ultimate Fighter Season 14 winner was believed to have initially been causing trouble inside the club, arguing with a DJ and attempting to punch employees.
He briefly left the club and was then refused re-entry when he returned. That apparently infuriated the 28 year-old who soon returned to the scene brandishing a gun, which he pointed at several patrons and then hit an employee in the face with.
Brandao was arrested on Friday and charged with aggravated battery and three counts of aggravated assault. He’s since posted $15,000 bail.
“We are aware that UFC featherweight Diego Brandao was arrested Friday following an altercation at a business establishment in Albuquerque, N.M,” An official statement from the UFC reads. “We are in the process of gathering more information at this time.
“While we are concerned by the nature of the reported allegations, it is important to note that Brandao is entitled to due process in a court of law.
“We will have no further comment until more information can be gathered.”
Meanwhile, tomorrow Brandao is expected to receive a suspension from the UFC for an unrelated matter, having tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his submission loss to Brian Ortega at UFC 195 back in early January.
