Two established UFC veterans, Diego Sanchez and Ovince Saint Preux, have accepted three-month suspensions handed down by USADA in relation to recent drug-test violations which have been traced back to tainted supplements.
Sanchez tested positive for two banned substances, ostarine and S-23, on October 26th of last year and USADA have since been able to confirm that came from a contaminated supplement, which is why he has been handed a reduced sentence of just three months, which began on that date and as such now leaves him eligible to compete again.
As such, Sanchez’s next fight with Michel Pereira will still go ahead as planned in February as the 38-year-old looks to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Michael Chiesa in his last trip to the Octagon.
Meanwhile OSP also tested positive for ostarine in addition to LGD-4033 and GW1516 metabolites on November 1st.
As with Sanchez’s case, Saint-Preux’s prohibited substances were then traced back to a tainted supplement he had been using and has only led to a three month suspension, which has now been completed.
OSP is coming off a win against Michal Oleksiejczuk last time out in September, but doesn’t currently have another fight scheduled yet.
