Diego Sanchez Wants To Fight Nate Diaz Next

Diego Sanchez is only days removed from his brutal, bloody battle with Gilbert Melendez at UFC 166 that many are touting as the ‘Fight Of The Year’, yet he’s already looking ahead to his next war in the Octagon.

“Im thinking maybe nate diaz for the next fight would be a epic 5 rounder,” Sanchez wrote on Twitter yesterday.

That certainly sounds like a perfect match-up to produce more fireworks, but it’s not something that can be arranged right away.

For one thing, Diaz has the small matter of a trilogy fight with Gray Maynard at the TUF 18 Finale on November 30th to deal with first.

Meanwhile, Sanchez also has to ride out a three month medical suspension anyway for the cuts he received during his last fight, though that’s not something that’s troubling the 31 year-old.

“I’m gonna heal fast cut was real clean & had a top notch surgeon stitch me up,”
Sanchez said.

Sanchez has previous history with the Diaz brothers, having fought Nate’s older brother Nick all the way back at the TUF Season 2 Finale in November of 2005.

On that occasion he emerged victorious, so Nate Diaz would have a score to settle, while Sanchez may also be eager to prove a point against one of Gilbert Melendez’s long-time friends and training partners.

Sanchez Vs Diaz has got all the ingredients of a great fight and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it headlining either a FOX of FOX Sports 1 event at some stage in 2014.
