Donald Cerrone Now Fights Alex Oliveira At UFC Fight Night 83

After Tim Means was pulled due to a failed drug test, Donald Cerrone will now fight Brazil’s Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 83 in Pittsburgh on February 21st.

That means the UFC will have it’s first ‘Cowboy’ Vs ‘Cowboy’ fight in the Octagon since both men have the same nickname, and it’s not just for show either as Cerrone has his own ranch in New Mexico, while Oliveira is a former rodeo bullrider!

Cerrone will be making his welterweight debut for this fight after his impressive eight fight winning streak at lightweight ended with an unsuccessful title shot bid against current champion Rafael dos Anjos who stopped him by TKO in 66 seconds at UFC On FOX 17 back in December.

Oliveira gets drafted in on just over two weeks notice and he is also a former lightweight fighter, but has been competing at welterweight since arriving in the UFC last year.

He’s currently on a three fight winning streak in the Octagon, which includes a KO win over Piotr Hallmann at UFC Fight Night 77 in his native Brazil last November, but this will be a major step up in competition for him and his first opportunity to headline a UFC show.
