Doo Ho Choi TKO’s Thiago Tavares In First Round At TUF 23 Finale

The unassuming Doo Ho Choi’s amazing punching power was on display again tonight at the TUF 23 Finale as he stopped Thiago Tavares with strikes mid-way through the opening round.

Round One:

Choi rushes out at the start of the fight and takes the center of the cage. Tavares immediately in to a takedown attempt and gets Superboy to the mat.

Tavares presses Choi up against the cage and stays tight to him on the mat as the Korean tries to stand. Choi does nicely to still work his way up and reverse position so that he’s now clinching with Tavares.

Despite that, Tavares manages to bring him down to the mat again. ‘The Korean Superboy’ stands back up and is then able to get away to striking range.

Nice straight right from Choi. He then uncorks another right to the face and Tavares just collapses in on himself as he drops to the mat. Choi lands a follow-up punch on the mat to seal the TKO finish at 2.42mins of the first round.

Amazing stuff from ‘The Korean Superboy’ who is fully living up to his nickname in the UFC, with his remarkable punching power now having resulted in no less than 3 first round finishes since joining the promotion.
