Dustin Poirier KO’s Bobby Green In First Round At UFC 199

Dustin Poirier ran through Bobby Green tonight at UFC 199, with ‘The Diamond’ consistently finding a home for his left hand early in the opening round, leading to a KO finish.

Round One:

Punch from Green and a nice counter from Poirier. Poirier catches a kick from Green, but isn’t able to do anything with it.

Let kick for Poirier. Right hand gets through for Poirier, but Green lands a right hook counter. Leg kick for Green now.

Left kick and a right hand behind it for Poirier. Another kick for him. Big left hand for Poirier as Green was taunting him with his hands oustretched, then drops him with a follow-up left hook to the chin!

Green struggles back to his feet under fire and appears to recover quickly, but he was in big trouble for a moment there.

Poirier with another left that hurts Green. That straight left keeps finding the mark for ‘The Diamond’ and Green can’t continue to just take these like this.

Again Poirier loads up on the left and again it lands flush and drops Green hard to the canvas, and this time he’s not getting back up, with Poirier landing a final punch on the mat to seal the KO victory with just 2.53mins on the clock.

Poirier had already been showing impressive form since moving up to 155lbs, and this was another excellent display that should accelerate his climb into the division’s top 10 rankings.
