Dustin Poirier Vs Yancy Medeiros Goes Down At UFC Fight Night 68

A lightweight encounter between Dustin Poirier Vs Yancy Medeiros will take place at UFC Fight Night 68 in New Orleans on June 6th.

It’s a quick turnaround for Poirier who is only days removed from a successful move back up to the lightweight division, producing an impressive KO finish against Carlos Diego Ferreira that earned him a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus for good measure.

This wasn’t Poirier’s first rodeo at 155lbs, but since joining the UFC in January of 2011 he’d been competing at featherweight where he’d compiled an 8-3 record.

Like Poirier, Medeiros has aspirations to break into the top 15 rankings in the lightweight division and has already gone some way towards that goal with back-to-back victories, each earning him a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award courtesy of submission finishes.

Prior to that Medeiros had experienced an unsettled start to his UFC career, losing two fights and having a victory amended to a no-contest after testing positive for marijuana.

Despite that, the Hawaiian had originally been scheduled to fight rising top 15 talent Tony Ferguson at UFC 184, but missed out on the opportunity after suffering an injury.

UFC Fight Night 68 is set to be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between recent title contender Daniel Cormier and Ryan Bader, while Dan Henderson Vs Tim Boetsch also features on the main card and will likely serve as the co-main event.
