UFC 203 stars Fabricio Werdum, Urijah Faber, CB Dolloway and other members of their respective teams found themselves in a little post-weigh-in drama yesterday as the elevator they were using at the Wyndham hotel in Cleveland became stuck.
“We loaded up the elevator after weigh ins and it dropped with the door open!!!” Faber’s Team Alpha Male coach Justin Buccholz wrote on Instagram afterwards. “Thank you God we only fell one floor and we were only trapped for like 10 min in the basement cause we were running out of air.”
Buccholz also posted mobile phone footage of the scene inside the elevator as they awaited rescue, and it seemed those involved were in good spirits, with Werdum joking that it was Faber’s fault for eating too much after making weight.
Faber later revealed that the elevator had also included the likes of Ray Sefo, Brad Tavares and Yancy Medeiros. That’s a heck of a lot of MMA talent in one small space, so it’s a relief to know that everyone got out safely.
