Stipe Miocic KO’s Fabricio Werdum To Win Heavyweight Title At UFC 198

Stipe Miocic stunned Brazil tonight by knocking out Fabricio Werdum in the main event of UFC 198 to become the new heavyweight champion of the world.

Round One:

The heavyweight title fight is underway! Miocic with a leg kick and Werdum responds with a body kick. Leg kick for the champion now. A tentative front kick as well. Now a more decisive one and they both land a leg kick at the same time.

Solid body kick for Werdum. He rushes in and lands a punch. Now a right hand from him. A leg kick for Werdum in-between two from Miocic.

Jab and then a solid right hand from the champion. Werdum reaches down for a single leg, but Miocic breaks free. Short flurry of punches for Werdum. Miocic lands his jab and then pumps it out some more.

Leg kicks again for Werdum and one for Miocic. Front kick for Werdum. Right hand for Miocic snaps Werdum’s head back.

Couple of right hand for Werdum and he throws caution to the wind by charging forward aggressively with a flurry of punches. Miocic in reverse gear but he has the presence of mind to throw out a well-placed right hand to the jaw as he does so and it connects cleanly and switches Werdum’s lights out! Miocic has won by KO with 2.47mins of the first round gone and has just become the UFC’s new heavyweight champion!!

A stunning moment for Miocic and he rushes over to his corner and vaults the cage to go celebrate with his team, shouting almost in disbelief, “I’m the world champion!”
