Foot Injury Could Keep Mark Munoz Out Of The UFC For Up To A Year

UFC middleweight contender Mark Munoz fears he could be out of action for up to a year if a foot injury he sustained in training is badly damaged.

“I hurt my foot training for the Weidman fight,” Munoz tells Fighthubtv. “I was training with Jason (Miller) inside the cage and my foot got caught. I am not sure if it is broken. I will be getting an official MRI tomorrow and I will know. I just hope they do not have to break it in order for it to heal properly as it has somewhat started to heal.”

It’s just another stumbling block after what’s been a tough spell for Munoz. A year ago he was perfectly situated within the UFC’s 185lb ranks after going on a four-fight unbeaten run, but he was then forced out of action for several months with an elbow injury and upon his return in July he was KO’d by another top contender Chris Weidman.

To add to his woes, afterwards Munoz suffered a staph infection that infected both his knee and face.

Hopefully his latest injury won’t prove to be as bad as he fears and he’ll be able to get back in the cage before too long as despite his recent loss he’s still a significant force in the UFC’s middleweight division.
