Former Middleweight Title Contender Thales Leites Returns To The UFC

Former UFC middleweight title contender Thales Leites is set to make a return to the promotion after a four year absence.

Leites earned a title shot against Anderson Silva in 2009 after a five fight winning streak in the division, but his timid performance against the champion was heavily criticized and after losing by split decision to Alessio Sakara in his next fight he was abruptly released from his contract.

In the years since Leites has compiled a 6-1 record and is currently on a three fight winning streak that includes victories over veterans Matt Horwich and Jeremy Horn.

While the deal has not yet been officially confirmed Leites profile is back on UFC.com and according to the Globo site he could fight at UFC 163 in Rio later in the year.

Ross launched MMA Insight (previously FightOfTheNight.com) in 2009 as a way to channel his passion for the sport of mixed martial arts.
