Frank Mir Vs Todd Duffee Targeted For Summer Showdown

A heavyweight fight between Frank Mir and Todd Duffee is currently in the works for a spot on one of the UFC’s summer events according to the UFC Tonight show.

After a four fight losing streak, the 35 year-old Mir fended off retirement talk, at least for the time being, following a first round KO victory against Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva at UFC Fight Night 61 in Brazil back in February.

The former heavyweight champion, who’s currently ranked No.11 in the division, appears to have no thoughts of hanging up his gloves just yet and has a personal goal to fight three times in the Octagon in 2015.

Dufee is coming off a two-fight winning streak since returning to the UFC in 2012. Dufee has always had potential, but the 29 year-old has had an unsettled career overall that’s been marred by numerous setbacks including a long-term illness and a prior dismissal from the UFC back in 2010 after Dana White became dissatisfied with his attitude.

With all that disruption he’s managed only 5 fights in the past 5 years, so he really needs to start to put together a consistent run, and taking out a big name opponent like Mir could help him to get some momentum going and push into the division’s top 15 rankings.

Over the years I've watched the UFC develop into the powerhouse it is today, organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and WEC rise and fall, and Bellator emerge as a new force on the MMA landscape. Throughout it all I've remained captivated by the sport and I'm excited to cover what comes next here on MMA Insight.
