Frankie Edgar is expected to fight fellow featherweight contender Jeremy stephens at UFC 205 in New York City on November 12th.
A former lightweight champion, Edgar tasted defeat for the first time in three years in a rematch with Jose Aldo at UFC 200 back in July, losing out by unanimous decision.
Coincidentally, Aldo had also beat Edgar in the same fashion when he first made the switch to 145lbs back in 2013.
however, inbetween those two fights, ‘The Answer’ had compiled a five fight winning streak in the weight class that had included victories over the likes of Urijah Faber, BJ Penn, Cub Swanson and Chad Mendes.
Now Edgar will look to get back to winning ways against the No.7 ranked Stephens, who’s coming off a victory over former bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC Fight Night 88 in May.
That was a big win for ‘Lil’ Heathen’, who’s had mixed results in his past five fights, posting a 2-3 record.
Edgar Vs Stephens joins an already star-studded line-up for the Madison Square Garden show, which already counts Chris Weidman Vs Yoel Romero, Rashad Evans Vs Tim Kennedy and Donald Cerrone Vs Kelvin Gastelum among it’s ranks so far.
More big name fights are still to be announced though, with the main event match-up still to be unveiled.
