Gegard Mousasi Now Fights Uriah Hall At UFC Fight Night 75

Roan Carneiro has picked up an injury and so will be unable to fight Gegard Mousasi in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 75 in Japan on September 26th as was originally planned.

No to worry though as the UFC have found a suitable replacement in the shape of Uriah Hall to take on Mousasi instead.

Hall defeated Oluwale Bamgbose just a couple of weeks ago at UFC Fight Night 73, so this is a relatively quick turnaround for him, though he finished that fight in just 2.32mins by TKO so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem for him.

The former TUF finalist 4-1 in his last five UFC appearances after a disappointing two-fight losing run to start his run in the Octagon, but he’s never faced someone of Mousasi’s caliber before, so this is a big step up for the 31 year-old.

A year younger than his new opponent, Mousasi is coming off back-to-back wins against Dan Henderson and Costas Philippou and is currently ranked at No.6 in the middleweight division so both Carnerio (ranked No.14) and Hall (unranked) aren’t exactly ideal opponents for him if he’s looking to push into the title reckoning, but nonetheless he’ll no doubt relish the opportunity to fight again in Japan since that’s where he spent a large portion of his career before signing up for Strikeforce and then the UFC.

With the co-main event taken care of again, UFC Fight Night 75 is ready to proceed with Josh Barnett Vs Roy Nelson serving as the main event of the evening.
