A fight between Germaine de Randamie and Julianna Pena is being planned for a UFC event on October 3rd at a destination still to be confirmed.
De Randamie is coming off an unsuccessful attempt to win the bantamweight title from Amanda Nunes in December of last year, though she did take the dominant two-weight titleholder to the scorecards.
A former featherweight champion herself, the 36-year-old de Randamie had been on a five-fight winning streak at the time, having defeated the likes of Holly Holm, Raquel Pennington and Aspen Ladd along the way.
As such she’s still ranked as the No.1 contender at 135lbs and will now face off against the current No.4 placed Pena, who is coming off a decision victory over Nicco Montano a year ago in her comeback fight following the birth of her first child.
In total Pena has won five of her last six fights, with her only loss during that spell coming against future flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko back in January of 2017.
De Randamie vs. Pena joins an October 3rd card that will also feature another female fight between Loma Lookboonmee and Jinh Yu Frey.
