Gilbert Burns made it look easy against Neil Magny tonight as he took his veteran opponent down in the opening round and achieved full mount before sinking in a fight-ending arm-triangle submission.
Round One:
Leg kicks and a side kick to the body from Magny. First punch lands for Burns. Cautious first opening minute passes by.
Front kick to the body from Magny. Jab from Burns. Burns into range and gets to the body lock and then brings him down to the mat nicely.
Burns in half-guard and postures up, landing a nice right hand. He tries to pass to mount, but unable to. Burns quickly moves to side control afterwards though.
Burns swaps over to side control on the other side now. He’s looking to step into mount and does so at the second attempt.
Burns not rushing from this advantageous position, biding his time and then suddenly going for the arm-triangle and locks it in effortlessly and forces Magny to tap out at 4.15mins of the opening round.
