Glover Teixiera Defeats Misha Cirkunov By TKO In First Round At UFC On FOX 26

Glover Teixiera made relatively short work of Misha Cirkunov tonight at UFC On FOX 26, finishing him off mid-way through the first round, but not before facing some early adversity.

Round One:

Cirkunov with a push kick and then an inside leg kick. Another push kick from him. Now it’s a solid body kick. Left hand for Cirkunov. Teixiera threatens with a left hook.

Teixeira again looking for the right then the left hook behind it. Knee for Cirkunov. Short flurry from Cirkunov.

Cirkunov wades in and fires off a series of punches that whips Teixeira’s head back. He looks in some early trouble here, but is trying to work out of it.

As Cirkunov continues to apply pressure Teixeira suddenly manages to take him down and has his back. He sinks in a rear-naked choke and Cirkunov is having to dig deep to stop himself from tapping here. He starts throwing a few punches behind him at Teixeira, but the Brazilian transitions to full mount.

Cirkunov goes to his front again and Teixeira quickly has him flattened out and rains down some heavy shots. Cirkunov goes into a defensive shell and the referee decides he’s had enough, with Teixeira claiming the TKO victory at 2.45mins of the first round.

Things weren’t looking too good for Teixeira in the early stand-up battle, but he showed his well-rounded skills to get the fight to a place where he could gain an edge and deliver an impressive victory.
