Just when we thought the UFC’s latest injury crisis couldn’t get any worse, news reaches us that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is the latest fighter to be withdrawn from his upcoming fight.
It turns out that the broken arm Nogueira suffered against Frank Mir at the end of last year hasn’t healed fully and that’ll force him out of his co-main event fight with Cheick Kongo at UFC 149 on July 21st.
The UFC have already made arrangements to keep Kongo on the card and he’ll now face Shawn Jordan who made a successful start to his UFC career back in March when he TKO’d Oli Thompson.
Needless to say however, Kongo Vs Jordan is a big step down from the originally intended fight and further weakens the Canadian card which has already suffered from the main event between Jose Aldo and Eric Koch being scrapped, while Michael Bisping and Thiago Alves have also withdrawn due to injuries.
As things stand the headliner is now a bantamweight interim title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao, while Hector Lombard Vs Tim Boetsch could now serve as the co-main event on the new-look fight card.
