GSP Is Convinced Chris Weidman Is Going To Beat Anderson Silva

Georges St.Pierre has revealed in a new interview that he’s convinced that Chris Weidman is going to produce a massive upset by defeating Anderson Silva when they meet at UFC 162 on July 6th.

“I believe [Weidman] is going to beat Anderson Silva,” GSP states in an interview with Sportsnet. “I believe it’s a bad matchup for Anderson Silva. It’s very bad.

“Not only is he going to beat, I believe he is going to finish Anderson Silva. I believe it’s not going to be too long, that fight. This, people will be shocked.”

However, the current welterweight champion does feel that Silva does have one advantage going into the bout.

“Anderson Silva is smart because Chris Weidman is coming back from an injury, a long layoff, so it’s the time to fight him right now.”

St.Pierre trains with Weidman so he’ll know as well as anybody how capable he is, but at the same time the Canadian does have a habit of being very generous with his praise for his team-mates at Tri-Star.

Weidman certainly turned a lot of heads when he KO’d Mark Munoz though and with a flawless 9-0 career record and a strong wrestling game to match his ever-improving stand-up and BJJ, he’s definitely someone Silva can’t afford to take lightly.
