GSP Set To Make An Announcement On His Future This Friday

Georges St-Pierre

UFC superstar Georges St.Pierre will make an announcement about his future at a press conference on Friday in his native Canada, according to Le Journal De Montreal.

The 32 year-old has recently been on vacation after successfully defending his welterweight title for the ninth time in a row, albeit by the narrowest of margins in one of the toughest fights of his career against Johny Hendricks.

In the Octagon after the fight St.Pierre had indicated that he wanted to take time out to deal with undisclosed personal issues which lead to a great deal of speculation in the press at to what they might be, but at this stage the real truth of the matter remains unclear.

What his announcement is likely to be also remains a closely guarded secret at this stage. It could be that he’s now made his mind up to officially retire, or perhaps that due to his desire to take extended leave from the sport that he’s going to relinquish his title.

On the other hand, UFC president Dana White had stated in the days after GSP’s initial announcement that he was confident that his personal issues weren’t serious and that he’d be back in the Octagon sooner rather than later, so it could be that he’s going to announce that he’s returning to action.

Of course it could also just be that he’s is going to announce a new line of GSP branded underpants in time for Christmas, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
