Hector Lombard Could Be Heading For Title Shot If He Defeats Brian Stann

Former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard has only just arrived in the UFC, but according to Dana White he might already be just one fight away from a title shot.

“Yeah, it would make sense,” White told the media after yesterday’s UFC 146 presser. “The guy has won, I think it’s 25 fights in a row or something like that. If he comes right into the UFC, main events and knocks out Stann, it makes sense.”

It’s also interesting to note that White appears to be stating that Lombard Vs Stann will headline the UFC On FOX 4 card on August 4th even although the announced fights so far include Lyoto Machida Vs Ryan Bader.

So it seems like they have a lot of faith in Lombard’s abilities, and with a 25 fight unbeaten run and a 31-2-1 overall record including 25 finishes by either knockout or submission it’s not hard to see why.

Stann is a step up from much of the opposition Lombard has faced in his career though so we’ll have to reserve judgement until we see his performance against the former marine captain who has title aspirations of his own, but there’s no doubt that he’s bringing something fresh and exciting to a 185lb division which has been torn apart by a dominant Anderson Silva over the past five years.
