Hector Lombard will return to action following a one year suspension to fight Neil Magny in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 84 in Brisbane, Australia on March 19th.
Lombard was suspended last January after testing positive for steroids following a unanimous decision victory against Josh Burkman at UFC 182, a result which was then amended to a no-contest ruling.
Prior to that Lombard had won two fights since making the decision to drop down to welterweight, KO’ing Nate Marquardt and earning a convincing unanimous decision win against Jake Shields.
In Magny he’ll be facing one of the UFC’s most consistent performers over the past couple of years, having compiled a 9-1 record during that period, with his only loss coming after being outgrappled by Demian Maia at UFC 190 in August of last year.
He’s since bounced back with split decision wins over Erick Silva and Kelvin Gastelum, and currently finds himself placed at No.8 in the divisional rankings.
Lombard Vs Magny will serve directly underneath the UFC Fight Night 84 main event heavyweight clash between Mark Hunt and Frank Mir.
This will be the UFC’s second visit to Brisbane after debuting back in December of 2013 in a ‘Fight Night’ card also headlined by Hunt, and is expected to air on FOX Sports 1.
