Hector Lombard Vs Brad Tavares Scrapped From UFC On FOX 23

A middleweight match-up between Hector Lombard and Brad Tavares has been pulled from the UFC On FOX 23 main card on January 28th in Denver, Colorado due to both fighter suffering injuries.

To make up for the loss of the fight, the UFC have now added a bout between Eric Spicely and Allessio Di Chirico to bring the card back up to 12 fights in total.

So far it hasn’t been announced which fight will now shift up from the UFC On FOX 23 preliminary card to take the spot vacated by Lombard Vs Tavares, but there are a number of suitable options.

For instance, Nate Marquardt Vs Sam Alvey could easily fill that role, with Aljamain Sterling Vs Raphael Assuncao also being an appealing option that would be worthy of the main card spotlight.

UFC On FOX 23 will be headlined by a potential No.1 contender bout in the woman’s bantamweight division as Valentina Shevchenko goes up against former TUF winner Julianna Pena, while Donald Cerrone Vs Jorge Masvidal occupies the co-main event role and Andrei Arlovski takes on Francis Ngannou.

The event comes off the back of a successful UFC On FOX 22 show in December headlined by Paige Van Zant and Michele Waterson, which drew 3,178,000 viewers, making it the most watched UFC show on FOX since April of 2013.
