Invicta FC has a new atomweight champion after Herica Tiburcio shocked Michelle Waterson with a third round guillotine submission victory.
‘The Karate Hottie’ knew she was in a fight from the opening round with Tiburcio taking her down early and slamming out of an armbar attempt from the champion. Waterson was eventually able to sweep and get to full mount, only for Tiburcio to reverse the position an end the round back on top.
The second round was close, with Waterson showing swelling to her left eye, but nonetheless managing get a takedown of her own and enjoying some time on top. In the latter half of the round it was Tiburcio who was threatening with submissions after also landing a takedown, first going for a kimura before ending the round with an armbar attempt.
The fight hit the mat again in the third round, but they got back upright. Then Tiburcia suddenly went for an arm-in guillotine and forced the tap with 1.04mins gone to become the new atomweight champ.
