Invicta FC 21 Results

Invicta FC 21 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event of the evening, Megan Anderson became the new Invicta interim featherweight champion after taking Charmaine Tweet with strikes midway through the second round.

Tweet had her moments on the feet in the first round, but Anderson seemed unphased and came on strong in the second with a series of punches and a head kick that eventually left her opponent turning her back in distress, leading to the fight ending by TKO at 2.05mins.

Raquel Pa’Aluhi earned a first round submission victory over Pannie Kianzad in the co-main event, quickly getting her opponent to the mat and then working her way towards a rear-naked choke finish at 3.40mins.

The biggest talking point of the night by far happened much earlier though when Celine Haga appeared to render Amy Montenegro unconscious with a rear-naked choke at the final bell.

Unfortunately for her, the referee didn’t realize what had happened until after the bell, and amid much confusion Montenegro was awarded a unanimous decision victory (29-28 x3).

Afterwards, veteran referee ‘big’ John McCarthy revealed that the officials at the event had made a blunder as if a fighter is unconscious at the end of the fight via a submission then the rules say that their opponent should be declared the winner.

Coincidentally, at the end of the first round there had also been a debate as to whether the fight should have been stopped after Montenegro tapped out Haga with an armbar, only for the ref to declare that the finish had come after the bell.
