UFC Fight Night 36 in Brazil will be co-headlined by a middleweight clash between Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza and Francis Carmont.
Former Strikeforce middleweight champion, ‘Jacare’ has made an immediate impact since joining the UFC, notching up first round victories against Chris Camozzi and Yushin Okami so far that’s extended his unbeaten run to five fights and left him ranked as the No.4 contender at 185lbs.
Carmont has also been enjoying a successful run of form in the Octagon, putting together an impressive 6-0 record in the UFC so far, with his most notable win coming last time out against Costa Philippou which secured him the No.8 rank in the division.
It’s a well matched fight and the winner would push themselves firmly into the battle for teh No.1 contender spot in the remainder of 2014.
UFC fight Night 36 will be headlined by another major middleweight encounter as Lyoto Machida faces Gegard Mousasi, which gives an indication of the kind of strength in depth their currently is in a division that’s currently enjoying a new lease of life heading into the new year.
