There appears to be a change of plans afoot at the top of the bill for UFC Fight Night 186 in Las Vegas on February 27th as Jairzinho Rozenstruik has claimed he will now compete in a five-rounder against Cyril Gane on that date.
Five-rounds suggests that the bout will take main event status, even although it had previously been indicated that a light-heavyweight fight between Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka was going to headline the show.
There’s no official confirmation from the UFC at this stage on the matter, which sees Rozenstruik vs. Gane being moved forward from it’s original March 13th date.
This heavyweight fight is certainly worthy of a high-profile spot, with Rozenstruik coming off a second round TKO victory over former champion Junior dos Santos back in August of last year.
Rozenstruik had been KO’d by current title contender Francis Ngannou prior to that, but that’s the only loss in his 12-fight career to date, including six fights in the UFC so far, leaving him ranked No.3 in the division.
Meanwhile, Gane is establishing himself as a major player in the division too with a perfect 7-0 record to date, and like his new opponent, Gane is also coming off a TKO win against JDS last year, which has taken him to No.7 in the rankings.
