Jake Shield Moves Up To Middleweight To Take On Ed Herman At UFC 150

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields will move back up to 185lbs after a spell at welterweight in the UFC.

Shields first assignment in the UFC’s middleweight ranks will comes against Ed Herman at UFC 150 in Denver on August 11th.

The fighter had recently indicated that he had been contemplating moving up in weight after having failed to set the 170lb division alight since moving from Strikeforce, posting a 2-2 record overall.

In Herman he’ll face a man who’s currently found a new lease of life in the UFC after a long spell out through injury. He returned to action in the summer of last year after nearly two years out and has since racked up three wins in a row.

At this stage there’s no official word on who will headline UFC 150, but rumors suggest a lightweight title rematch between Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar could take that spot.
