Two veteran campaigners, Jim Miller and Takanori Gomi, will battle at the UFC 200 card In las Vegas on July 9th.
Miller is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Diego Sanchez at UFC 196 last month, and troublingly for the 32 year-old that marks his fourth defeat in his past five fights.
Miller has just a solitary split decision win over Danny Castillo to show for his last couple of years in the Octagon, with his other losses coming against Donald Cerrone, Beneil Dariush, and Michael Chiesa.
That’s a big change for a fighter who prior to this dip in form had lost just four of his previous 29 fights, so a win over Gomi is a must.
Speaking of Gomi, the Japanese fighter is in a similar spot in the lightweight division as he’s lost three of his last four fights.
In fact, you have to go back two years to find the last time the 37 year-old had his hand raised in the Octagon with a unanimous decision victory against Isaac Vallie-Flagg. More worringly though is the fact that he’s lost his last two fights against Myles Jury and Joe Lauzon by first round TKO.
Miller Vs Gomi is expected to take place on the undercard of the UFC 200 show which will be headlined by a 170lb rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz with a high-profile co-main event match-up still believed to be in the works.
