Jimi Manuwa Vs Thiago Santos Set For UFC 231

A light-heavyweight fight between Jimi Manuwa and Thiago Santos have been confirmed for UFC 231 in Toronto on December 8th.

Manuwa was originally set to fight Santos at UFC Fight Night 137 late last month, but he had to withdraw due to an injury on short notice.

Santos went on to fight late replacement Eryk Anders instead and put on an impressive performance in what was his 205lb debut, getting the better of his opponent for three full rounds in the main event of the evening, leaving Anders rocked and unable to return to his stool inbetween rounds to seal a TKO victory.

In total the Brazilian has now won 6 of his past 7 fights, without only one of those fights having gone the distance, making him one of the most dangerous finishers on the roster right now.

Manuwa is a proven fight-ender in his own right, holding 15 stoppages due to strikes from 17 career victories, but he’s been through some tough times lately, losing his last two fights in a row against Volkan Oezdemir and Jan Blachowicz.

However, prior to that he had claimed KO stoppages against Ovince Saint Preux and Corey Anderson, so he’ll be hoping to return to that form and end the year on a high.

Manuwa Vs Santos joins a UFC 231 card that’s set to be headlined by a featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega, plus Joanna Jedrzeczjyk moving up to flyweight to fight for the title against current champion Valentina Shevchenko.
