Joe Lauzon Out Of UFC 180 Fight With Diego Sanchez

There’s more bad news for the UFC 180 event in Mexico with Joe Lauzon now out of his fight with Diego Sanchez on the November 15th show.

Lauzon had himself been a replacement for Norman Parke who was originally scheduled to face Sanchez before he picked up an injury. If anything the announcement that Lauzon was set to fight him instead had been met with more enthusiasm from fans than the original match-up, so it’s disappointing that it won’t be taking place after all.

At this stage there’s no word from the UFC on whether Sanchez will remain on the card or not, but given his Mexican roots it’s almost certain that they will. Whether they can find a good opponent for him on relatively short notice remains to be seen though.

Lauzon pulling out is the second hammerblow to the PPV show in just a few days with headliner Cain Velasquez also having been forced to withdraw from his heavyweight title defense against Fabricio Werdum due to a knee injury.

As things stand Werdum now fights Mark Hunt for the interim heavyweight title in the main event of the show, while Jake Ellenberger Vs Kelvin Gastelum remains the co-main event for the evening.
