Joe Lauzon Vs Al Iaquinta Targeted For UFC 183

The UFC 183 line-up is continuing to expand with the latest bout confirmed for the January 31st event in Las Vegas being a lightweight clash between Joe Lauzon and Al Iaquinta.

Lauzon had originally been lined up to fight Diego Sanchez at UFC 180 earlier in the month, but had to pull out due to an injury.

The UFC’s current record holder for most post-fight bonus awards, Lauzon is a veteran of 17 fights in the promotion to date, yet he’s still only 30 years old.

He found himself in something of a rut not so long ago with three losses in four Octagon outings, but he’s rallied in 2014 with back-to-back victories against former TUF winners Mac Danzig and Michael Chiesa.

A former TUF finalist, Iaquinta is also on a two-fight winning streak at the moment courtesy of TKO victories against Rodrigo Damm and Ross Pearson which has helped raise his profile, leaving him with a 5-2 record overall in the Octagon to date.

Lauzon Vs Iaquinta joins an already strong UFC 183 line-up that’s headlined by a ‘superfight’ between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz, while Tyron Woodley Vs Kelvin Gastelum, Miesha Tate Vs Sara McMann, Tim Boetsch Vs Thales Leites and Ian McCall Vs John Lineker are amongst the other fights already booked for the show.
