A welterweight fight between Joel Alvarez and Yaroslav Amosov has been booked for UFC 328 in Newark, New Jersey on May 9th.
The 33-year-old Alvarez holds an 8-2 record in the UFC and is currently on a four-fight winning streak.
That run began down at lightweight with a submission win over Mark Diakiese back in July of 2023, followed by a TKO finish of Elves Brener and knockout of Drakkar Klose in 2024.
Alvarez then moved up to 170lb last time out and continued his winning run with a unanimous decision victory over Vicente Luque.
Now Alvarez will look to strengthen his case for a spot on the welterweight rankings when he goes up against the 32-year-old Amosov, who is a former Bellator 170lb champion.
Amosov arrived in the UFC late last year with a 27-1 career record and earned a 1st round submission win over veteran campaigner Neil Magny in his debut.
Alvarez vs. Amosov joins a UFC 328 card that will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between current champion Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland, while Alexander Volkov vs. Waldo Cortes-Acosta, Sean Brady vs. Joaquin Buckley and Jan Blachowicz vs. Bogdan Guskov also feature on the line-up.
