Johnny Walker got back to winning ways tonight at UFC Fight Night 178 in a back-and-forth first round against Ryan Spann that led him to a KO victory.
Round One:
Very hard leg kick from Walker to start. Spann with a hook and then into a takedown attempt. He lands it, but Walker is quickly back up against the cage, with Spann pressed up against him in the clinch.
Not too much happening from the position here and they finally separate. Spann catches Walker with a let hand and he sinks to the mat woozily. Spann gets on top looking for a finish and traps an arm but Walker isn’t done yet, breaking free and trying to work a submission.
Walker able to get back up. They both land a strike at the same time and Walker falls backwards onto the mat and gets right back up, while Spann is hurt too and stumbles awkwardly into an overhand attempt and then tries to go for a takedown from his knees.
However, Walker starts to blast down big hammerfists to Spann’s head and has him hurt. He uses his long limbs to land some nasty elbows to the side of the head too, then more hammerfists seal a big comeback KO victory for Walker at the 2.43 minute mark of the opening round.
