Ovince Saint Preux has been forced out of his UFC 235 fight with Misha Cirkunov next month in Las Vegas due to an injury, but the promotion have managed to quickly find a replacement to step into the fight on short notice.
Upon hearing that the UFC were in need of a replacement, Johnny walker made it clear he was interested in taking OSP’s spot, and the UFC has duly obliged.
Walker has made an immediate impact in the UFC, starting with a first round knockout of Khalil Rountree Jr back in November, followed by a 15 second TKO stoppage against Justin Ledet earlier this month that firmly put him on the map as a serious light-heavyweight prospect, taking the No.15 spot on the rankings.
Now he faces a major step-up in competition however, with Cirkunov being a well-established UFC fighter with a 5-2 record to date.
That includes a submission win over Patrick Cummins last time out, though he had suffered a two-fight skid prior to that in which he’d been stopped by strikes against both Volkan Oezdemir and Glover Teixeira.
Walker Vs Cirkunov joins a UFC 235 card that will be headlined by light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones vs. Anthony Smith, while welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley also fights Kamaru Usman in the co-main event.
