Johny Hendricks Vs Martin Kampmann Targeted For UFC 154

The UFC have targeted a potential welterweight No.1 contender bout between Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann at UFC 154 in November.

Interestingly, that’s the same night as it’s hoped welterweight champion Georges St.Pierre will fight interim title holder Carlos Condit so if all goes according to plan this would be a perfect opportunity to get the top of the division back on track heading into 2013.

Hendricks is currently on a four fight winning streak, taking out the likes of Jon Fitch and Josh Koscheck along the way, and if it wasn’t for St.Pierre’s knee injury delaying his next title defense he may already have been in line for a shot at the belt.

Instead he’ll have to take down another high-flyer in Kampmann who’s produced some remarkable come-from-behind victories against the likes of Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger to stretch his unbeaten run to three fights and put himself into title contention.
