Jon Jones is becoming increasingly active on social media again, and that’s led to another rant on Twitter, this time about steroids.
Jones tested positive for two estrogen blockers prior to UFC 200 in July, which led to him being pulled from his title fight with Daniel Cormier, but further investigation into the matter appears to have confirmed that the interim light-heavyweight champion had taken a contaminated supplement containing the substances.
As such, it now appears increasingly likely that Jones will avoid a full two year suspension when he attends a USADA arbitration hearing on October 31st, with a NSAC hearing to follow after that on November 10th.
Jones is apparently so confident that he’ll now receive either a reduced sentence, or possibly even just a warning, that he’s now putting the rest of the light-heavyweight division on blast for doubting him.
“That’s right light heavyweight division, this means I got in that ass fair and square,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I heard your interviews. Steroids didn’t give me the believe that I am the baddest fm on this planet. It didn’t give me the heart to pull off victories in the last minutes of championship fights. Steroids will never give you a high IQ of the game. It won’t increase your awareness or your timing. It won’t make you more technical. It didn’t give me the idea to set my mind to a goal, to follow my dreams and bust my ass every day in the gym. I know that I’ve earned every inch of my success, every match ever won.
“Earning this high place in sports gives me the confidence and courage to know that I can do the same in my life. I know that I have something extremely powerful inside of me, I have the power to achieve anything I set my mind to. Knowing this helps me not worry when times get rough, I am more than a conqueror. I have what it takes to win.”
