Jon Jones Roasts Dominick Reyes Over Athlete Jibe

Jon Jones has taken exception to his upcoming title challenger Dominick Reyes recent comments about the level of athlete he’s been facing in the Octagon.

“He has never experienced an athlete of my caliber,” Reyes said in a recent UFC video for their headlining fight at UFC 247 this weekend. “He has never fought an athlete like me. He has fought average athletes.”

Reyes original ambition was to become an NFL player and he was the captain for the Stony Brook Seawolves during his time in college, but after that didn’t lead to him being picked up by a professional team he turned his focus to MMA.

However, Reyes comments and past accomplishments have not impressed Jones, whose older brother Arthur Jones won the superbowl with the Baltimore Ravens and younger brother Chandler is an outside linbacker for the Arizona Cardinals.

“‘He’s fought wrestlers he’s fought strikers but never athletes’ -DR probably the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a while,” Jones wrote on Twitter.

“DC competed in the NCAA finals and in the Olympics, OSP played Division I football, Bader the current double Champ of Bellator, Vitor crazy speed and explosive, Lyoto had been striking since age 5, Glover was on a 20 fight win streak but none of those guys are athletes I guess.”

Jones wasn’t finished there though.

“Dominick Reyes, one of the greatest athletes in Apple Valley history. Being a big fish in a small pond for so long has really gone to his head.

“Beating up on cans has got him convinced he’s a better athlete than most of the world. If he was so badass he would’ve won the California state wrestling championships, he would’ve went division one, He would have at least made a practice squad for the NFL. This man is delusional.”
