Jon Jones Thinks DC Beats Anthony Johnson But Wants Rumble To Win

Jon Jones interview

UFC Interim light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones thinks he knows how the upcoming 205lb title fight between current champion Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson will play out at UFC 206, but it’s not the outcome he’ll be rooting for on December 10th in Toronto, Canada.

“If I had to bet I would go with DC, his overall game is more complete,” Jones told a fan on Twitter over the weekend when asked for his prediction for the title rematch.

Jones was then asked who he’d rather see win, and he had little hesitation in picking the challenger.

“I would much rather fight Rumble for the title. That way I could clear the division and get my belt back at once,” Jones replied.

‘Bones’ holds a unanimous decision win over ‘DC’ dating back to January of 2015, which is why he’s not in a hurry to go up against him for a second time.

That being said, Cormier has compiled a three-fight winning streak since then, including a previous win over Anthony Johnson to win the title vacated by Jones after his hit-and-run incident last year.

Jones and Cormier had then been lined up to fight each other in the main event of UFC 200 in July, but the fight fell through on the week of the fight due to Jones failing a drug test.

At that stage it looked as if Jones would be suspended from the sport for a couple of years, but new evidence has since emerged that the 29 year-old had unknowingly taken a tainted supplement that caused him to be flagged for two estrogen blockers.

As such, Jones and his legal team now believes they will get a far more lenient punishment when they go before a USADA arbitration hearing later today.
