A welterweight fight between Jorge Masvidal and Jake Ellenberger has been targeted for the TUF 24 Finale event in Las Vegas on December 3rd.
Masvidal was originally scheduled to fight Kelvin Gastelum at the TUF Latin America 3 Finale next month, but was left without an opponent after Gastelum was shifted to UFC 205 where he now fights Donald Cerrone instead.
‘Gamebred’ claimed a unanimous decision win over Ross Pearson last time out, and that win broke a two-fight losing streak for the 31 year-old, having come up on the wrong side of split decision verdicts against both Ben Henderson and Lorenz Larkin.
As for Ellenberger, he finally got back to winning ways with a first round TKO victory against Matt Brown at UFC 201 in July.
That was a massive relief for the 31 year-old ‘Juggernaut’ as prior to that he’d picked up just one win in his previous six fights – a disastrous spell for a fighter who, up until then, had been a significant player in the welterweight division.
The TUF 24 Finale is set to be headlined by flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, who’ll be fighting the winner of the season, while two former 125lb title contenders, Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo are also scheduled to fight on the card, with Gray Maynard Vs Ryan Hall also on-board that night.
