Jose Aldo Vs Anthony Pettis Featherweight Title Fight Official For August 3rd

Ask and ye shall receive! Just days after Anthony Pettis called out for a featherweight title shot against Jose Aldo the UFC have granted his wish.

Dana White confirmed to USAToday that Aldo Vs Pettis will go down at an as yet unannounced UFC event on August 3rd.

Former WEC lightweight champion Pettis will make the trip down to 145lbs for the bout after an impressive three-fight winning streak in the UFC’s lightweight class.

A title shot in that division would more than likely have been on the cards next if it hadn’t been for Strikeforce title holder Gilbert Melendez suddenly stepping into the picture and so the 26 year-old decided he was tired of waiting and is now looking elsewhere to get his hands on UFC gold.

As for Aldo, he has been eyeing a potential move up to take on the lightweight division’s elite, but for the time being it seems he doesn’t need to as they are coming to him instead.

Aldo has already fended off challenges from lightweight stars like Kenny Florian and Frankie Edgar since joining the UFC and he’ll be hoping to add Pettis to that impressive resume.

This has all the makings of an explosive and highly entertaining encounter with Aldo and Pettis being two of the best strikers in the business with a flair for the creative and extra-ordinary.
