Jose Aldo Vs Frankie Edgar Planned For UFC 156 Headliner In January

The UFC will return to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for their first event of 2013 on January 19th with a major featherweight title fight expected to headline the show.

According to multiple sources 145lb champ Jose Aldo will again defend his title in the city, this time against former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar who’ll be making his debut in the division.

The fight had originally been pencilled in for the UFC’s last visit to Rio earlier this month at UFC 153, but the bout had to be canceled after Aldo was injured in a motorcycle accident.

Aldo will be looking to successfully defend his title for a third time in the UFC and extend upon his 13 fight winning streak, while Edgar will be aiming to get back to the familiar feeling of having a title belt strapped around his waist after he lost his grip on the lightweight strap over two close fights with Ben Henderson.
