Josh Thomson Calls Out Nick Diaz To Fight At UFC On FOX 12

The UFC have so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to coax Nick Diaz out of his early retirement, but that hasn’t stopped Josh Thomson from trying his best to get him to step back into the spotlight to fight him.

“I knocked out your brother, I’ll knock ur bitch ass out in San Jose July 26th.Let’s do it Bitch, San Jose vs Stockon. Yup, FUCK U NICK DIAZ!” Thomson wrote on Twitter in a style more accustomed to the Diaz brothers themselves.

It’s a bit of an odd match-up given that Thomson currently fights at 155lbs and Diaz appeared to only be interested in returning to compete in a big money fight against either one of the pound-for-pound best or for a title shot.

Still, the fact that Thomson managed to dismantle Nick’s brother Nate at a ‘UFC On FOX’ show last year, handing him the first TKO loss of his career, and the manner in which he called him out may hit a raw nerve with the volatile Diaz, so who knows what might happen.

Thomson is coming off a split decision loss to former lightweight champion Ben Henderson that shut down his hopes for a lightweight title shot for the time being, though he’s still ranked at No.4 in the division.

Meanwhile, Diaz has been out of the Octagon since a unsuccessful title shot against Georges St.Pierre in 2012 and has turned down several fights from the UFC since then.

According to Dana White, Diaz made a lot of money from that fight which did almost a million buys on pay-per-view, so he believes that it’s possible Diaz won’t fight again until his bank balance starts to run low.
