A rematch between Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia will go down at UFC Fight Night 200 on January 15th of next year.
The two last fought back in November of 2019, with Chookagian emerging victorious via unanimous decision on that occasion.
However, both have since gone on to fight for the strawweight title. For Chookagian that opportunity arose in her very next fight, where she suffered a third round TKO loss to dominant champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Chookagian has since gone on to compile a 3-1 run, during which time she’s beaten Antonina shevchenko, Cynthia Calvillo and Viviane Araujo, with her loss coming against Jessica Andrade.
As for Maia, following her previous loss to Chookagian she beat Joanne Calderwood by submission, which was enough to take her to a title shot against Shevchenko a year ago, which she lost by unanimous decision.
Maia has got back on the horse since, defeating Jessica Eye by unanimous decision in July of this year, leaving her ranked No.4 in the division, two place behind Chookagian.
Chookagian vs. Maia joins a UFC Fight Night 200 card that is expected to be headlined by Calvin Kattar vs. Giga Chikadze in what will be the UFC’s first event of the new year.
