Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus will head into an immediate rematch at UFC Fight Night 197 on November 13th in Las Vegas after their first meeting ended in a no-contest after a crazy sequence of events.
This past weekend at UFC Fight Night 193, the two fighters had clashed heads and Holland came off far worse from it, appearing to be flash KO’d as he fell forward onto the canvas, but the fact he then seemed to quickly recover and attempt to go for a submission forced the ref Dan Miragliotta to hesitate on waving off the fight.
That resulted in the action quickly going back to the feet, at which point Daukaus was able to take the still-dazed Holland’s back, apple a rear-naked choke and send him unconscious for the second time on the night.
Afterwards Miragliotta spent a lengthy period of time debating the outcome with other officials before ultimately coming to a decision that due to the accidental clash of heads the outcome of the fight would be a no-contest.
Needless to say Daukaus wasn’t happy about that, while Holland said that he didn’t feel it was a no-contest, but was as eager as his opponent to now run back the match-up as soon as possible.
It’s a little concerning that after clearly being flash KO’d that Holland will now be back in action just a little over a month later, but he does appear to be in good spirits and even took the lead in chasing down a car thief on Monday, eventually taking him down and apprehending him until police arrived after a lengthy car chase.
Holland vs. Daukaus II will feature on a UFC Fight Night 197 card that is expected to be headlined by a featherweight fight between former champion Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez.
