Kevin Lee’s welterweight debut didn’t work out as he’d hoped last night as he suffered a fourth round submission loss to Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of UFC Fight Night 152.
Afterwards Lee reacted to the events of the night on Instagram as he tried to process what went wrong.
“I don’t know what happened out there tonight,” Lee said. “I thought I did everything right leading up to this fight. Tried to eliminate every little distraction, everything that wasn’t good for me. I swear I felt like everything was falling into place. I was talking to me even before I walked out there, still wasn’t enough.
This sh-t, sometimes, it’ll be like the highest highs and the lowest lows. This sh-t really makes you question what you believe in. I’ve been through a lot of sh-t in my life, this really ain’t gonna be sh-t.”
It was by no means a bad performance by Lee, who was competitive with dos Anjos throughout and got the better of him at some points, but RDA’s very well-rounded skill set and excellent cardio seemed to give him an edge in the later rounds and led to the arm triangle finish.
Lee has now lost three of his last four fights, having also tasted defeat against Tony Ferguson and Al Iaquinta, with a TKO win over Edson Barboza sandwiched inbetween.
However, the 26-year-old still holds a 17-5 record overall and is still going to be a threat for some time to come despite his latest setback.
